Andrew Davies was for thirteen years the in-house Survey Manager & Art Expert for AXA ART Insurance. Art Insurance Risk Consultancy Services, (AIRCS U.K. Ltd) was formed to share this specialist expertise.

At AXA ART working within a small, dedicated team Andrew’s multi-faceted role began in the year 2000 through developing and winning new business as well as Underwriting, marketing activities & customer services. This transitioned into being the ‘in-house’ Risk Surveyor whereby he oversaw all surveys for this leading H.N.W. insurer.

Andrew’s primary role was as in-house reference point for technical risk management, third party services and client profile advice to either win or retain business; effectively being ‘the eyes and ears’ of the Underwriting and Claims teams. Surveys be they pre-risk or post-claim can be the most visible, direct, and ongoing ‘touch point’ with clients and intermediaries. Andrew conducted priority surveys as well as managing the outsourced surveys undertaken throughout the UK and Ireland, Scandinavia and Hong Kong meeting private, commercial and institutional clients with art and antiques, classic cars and jewellery collections, as well as insuring buildings and contents.  Worked closely with many brokers and insurers with a reputation for a flexibility of approach and service excellence.  

Before his Insurance career Andrew was Manager of ‘Decorative & Applied Arts’, (including jewellery), at Hamptons International, Auctioneers in Godalming, Surrey, responsible for sourcing, cataloguing and selling fine auctions. Andrew ascribes his practical approach to being brought up on a farm near Ludlow and enjoys all interactions with antiques and architecture.
